Nostalgia

Jack Drewett of Eastbourne Road, Trowbridge, sent in this photo of him in the early 1950s carrying out repairs to the town hall clock.

He worked for Edward Lindzay and Son builders, based in The Halve, at the time and had to climb a ladder to get to the clock face, where part of the cast iron framework had broken.

He had to cut a hole in the shape of a leaf in the glass to match the pattern on the clock face, repair the framework and install a new piece of opaque glass.

The clock continued working while he carried out the repairs.
