The photo of Jack Drewett working on Trowbridge Town Hall clock, featured in a recent Down Memory Lane, sparked a response from Gerald Forse, of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
Mr Drewett worked for Trowbridge firm Linzey's at the time of the photo, in the early 1950s.
Mr Forse said: "My father Leslie Forse was foreman on Linzey's and was photographed outside at the time. When you published a picture of later repairs on June 18, 1982, he alerted you to his time on the scaffolding!"
