AMATEUR opera singer Teresa Bray, 25, was born in Trowbridge and raised in Melksham. She has recently moved to Semington where she lives with her partner Craig Fisher.
She has been a regular member of Trowbridge Amateur Operatic Society, since 1997, when she appeared in the award-winning production of The Hired Man, at the age of 15. More recently she has played a number of lead roles including Winnie in Annie Get Your Gun in November, and Phyllis in Iolanthe in May. She is also the society's vice-chair. Teresa is a classically-trained singer, graduating with a 2:1 in music from Bath Spa University in 2007. This month she is playing the lead role of Lily in the society's production of The Secret Garden, being staged at the Civic Hall in Trowbridge from Tuesday May 20 to Saturday May 24.
How would your best friend describe you?
Bubbly, determined, bold, caring and probably very ditzy!
Where would you recommend for a great evening out?
I love going to Bath and having a nice meal at Martini's restaurant, then onto a good cocktail bar for a martini or cosmopolitan. I love walking around the city on a nice summer evening - it's a good way to relax.
What do you do for fun?

At the moment I spend a lot of my spare time attending exercise classes like step and Bodymax. But I love Tuesday nights when I rehearse with the operatic society - having been a member for 10 years now it has become a huge part of my life. We always have such fun and end up with, what I think are great shows.
What motto or phrase do you try to live your life by?
Well having had an Irish nan means it's impossible not to know a few good mottos but I think my favourite is Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt; sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth'.
Who in the public eye do you most respect and why?
Anyone who devotes their time and money to worthwhile charities deserves a great deal of respect.
What is your biggest regret?
Over the last year-and-a-half I have been gradually following the Weight Watchers diet and have been really successful. I've now lost nearly five stone and feel great. I guess my one regret is not losing the weight sooner. But onwards and upwards and here's to a bit more weight off.
What is your favourite TV programme or film and why?
I absolutely love the really cheesy American sitcoms: Friends, Will & Grace, Desperate Housewives and Sex and the City are my all time favourites. My favourite film would have to be Dirty Dancing.
What makes you sad?
We lost my nan back in August 2007. She was a tiny Irish lady, with a huge heart and a massive zest for life.
It makes me sad to think about how much I miss her but also very proud that I was fortunate to know her.
She suffered from Alzheimer's for many years and Alzheimer's Support did so much for her. We will actually be collecting for this charity after each performance of The Secret Garden.
Describe your perfect day.
My perfect day would be a hot summer's day, having a huge barbecue with all my friends and family. I believe friends and family are the most important thing and I am so thankful that I have some incredible friends and a supportive family who are all very close.
