West Wilts Matters
Quest success for leisure centres
Castle Place Leisure Centre in Trowbridge is the top rated DC Leisure facility in the country for customer service.
The site recently achieved a Quest rating of 80%, putting it in the top five facilities nationally. The other seven West Wiltshire sites all achieved scores of at least 70%, which shows a considerable improvement since the last inspection in 2005.
The nationally recognised Quest quality assurance scheme was developed by Sport England to help leisure operators to enhance, improve and continue to improve the quality of services they give to customers.
Castle Place, along with Bradford Pool, Melksham Blue Pool, Christie Miller Sports Centre in Melksham, Trowbridge Sports Centre, Westbury Pool, Leighton Recreation Centre in Westbury, and Warminster Sports Centre, is owned by the District Council and managed by DC Leisure. The contract includes a requirement to achieve Quest accreditation.
Cllr Richard Wiltshire, the leisure portfolio holder, said: "Leisure and recreation facilities are a key service for the community and the Council is committed to providing good quality services. We were delighted to hear that our eight leisure facilities scored so highly in the Quest assessments and I'd like to thank DC Leisure, who operate them on our behalf, for their hard work in achieving this recognition."
Further improvements are now underway at Warminster Sports Centre, Castle Place, Christie Miller and Melksham Blue Pool, where DC Leisure is investing £360,000 in new fitness suite equipment, carpets and air conditioning.
