Consultation on Lafarge proposals
Lafarge Westbury Works has been consulting with local residents over its proposals to burn biomass fuels at its factory.
The company is expected to apply to the Environment Agency for an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit to burn meat and bone meal, and also refuse-derived fuel.
As well as meeting with key individuals and organisations, Lafarge held public information exhibitions in Westbury, Edington and Dilton Marsh during October.
Further statutory consultation will be carried out by the Environment Agency once the permit application is received; this is expected to run from November into the New Year.
Details of Lafarge's proposals can be found at Westbury library, by visiting their website or by calling 01373 828400. Comments can be emailed to bmcn.fuels@lafargecement.co.uk
