West Wilts Matters
New Cabinet member
An extra member of Cabinet has been appointed to lead on issues relating to the proposed reorganisation of local government in Wiltshire.
Cllr Rod Eaton has been appointed portfolio holder for change & integration. As well as working with our lawyers on the judicial review process, he is also responsible for protecting district services and staff in the interim period by ensuring that the county council does not exceed its authority.
If the unitary authority goes ahead, Cllr Eaton will engage in planning the integration into the new authority, to ensure that district services and staff are protected.
He said: "It will be a tough task, but we are determined to limit the impact on local services and to help our staff through the upheaval, uncertainty and anxiety that would follow."
