If anyone puts plans for a solar farm near you, fight against it.
A solar farm is in the process of being built off Norrington Lane, Shaw. The view from our garden used to be green grass and trees, until Broughton Gifford’s street lights. Now the skyline is silver.
The noise: the site works seven days a week, we have had weeks of piling (bang bang bang) from 8am till 6pm. Last Sunday they were on site until 9.30pm.
The mess: the lane and A365 have been covered in mud, Norrington Lane only walkable with Wellingtons on.
The delivery of solar panels: the lane and the main road backed up with large lorries for several days. Going from Shaw towards Melksham these were parked on a blind bend and were causing dangerous situations, especially for traffic going towards Melksham.
Also, needless to say all the lorries were from Eastern Europe, and the staff? Spain for a start.
