Is closing the county’s Mini Recycling Banks a good idea? Do our council leaders learn anything from experience?
This appears to be another “parking charges” type decision, made with one great jump, not looking where they are going to land. Will they have to review the situation next year? No reasonable person wants a set of facilities that go unused and waste money, but surely a careful approach is needed here. Take some of the lesser used sites, close them and see what the effect has been before going further. After all, it has still been fairly common to come across flytipped rubbish even though the provision of Civic Amenity sites and mini sites has been very comprehensive. We see enough paper and plastic litter lining our roads already. We do not want sofas and fridges as well, at least I don’t.
