Yes we should commemorate the fallen in war
Support the injured And help the traumatised
But let us not support the war machinery
The artillery, tanks and bombs of war
There is no pride in weapons
Only sadness and sorrow
People should be our focus
Our friends, family and lovers
Let us remember a child is born a child
An Islamist terrorist is not born to that life
Any more that a child of Nazi Germany
Was born to become a member of the Hitler Youth
We should strive to see the best in all
Not hope vainly that the soldier’s boot will bring peace
We must work to support justice and fairness in distant lands
With the faith that one day the cold roar of artillery is needed no longer
And politicians and generals will no longer send our loved ones to war.
