On behalf of the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group (BCUSG) Trowbridge, I would like to publicly thank Sean and Liam Brereton, for what has become an annual event (this is their third year),in organising the open air five-a-side football tournament, held at John of Gaunt School playing fields on Sunday.

The event was run in memory of their mother, Carol Brereton, and I believe it raised somewhere in the region of £1,500, which is to be split between BCUSG and Dorothy House charities.

There were around 20 teams involved, the final winners being the Bradley Boys, who got their hands on the Carol Brereton Shield.

Thanks to all those who took part; it’s encouraging to see young people doing this sort of thing, when at times they can come in for criticism and adverse publicity.

I’m sure my sentiments will be echoed by the people at Dorothy House.

Jeff Law, BCUSG committee member, Westmead Crescent, Trowbridge.
