As the father of a son who is an air traffic controller, I do hope Mr GF White was not referring to others of his trade when he apportions blame for the shooting down of the Malaysian plane over Ukraine.

If planes decide to take shorter, cheaper routes, as they often do, across skies which I remind Mr White were not no fly zones, then it is the responsibility of the airlines.

To save us all money, and give us the cheaper and cheaper flights we all crave, airlines will save money by whatever means including shortest more dangerous routes and carrying as little fuel as possible to reduce weight. Nothing to do with air traffic controllers.

And to correct his final point, this aircraft was not shot down by accident.

The perpetrator(s) acquired arms, aimed and fired, without knowing what they were pointing at.

I call it mass murder by careless abandon, not an accident.

Can I please also just comment on Mr and Mrs Ager's comments on the Business Park in Hawkeridge.

A bit too late to rally the troops. If people were that interested they would have rallied already.

What they should be working on is community spirit and neighbourliness which are sorely lacking in our country and if she believes the councillors who made the decisions were ‘no spring chickens’, work on getting youth involved in local politics to replace the ageing established gang.
