Re the correspondence about the unsightly nature of solar panels .
Some countries have gained an advantage by erecting them in car parks where they not only gather the sunlight, but also act as a shade for the parked cars – unfortunately we are less blessed with sunshine than some areas, but the principle still applies. Even without sun the panels would provide shelter from whatever weather befalls us for motorists returning to their vehicles.
