Salvation Army members, friends and volunteers will be out collecting in the local community, going door to door from September 8. Please give as generously as you can as 100 per cent of all donations to The Big Collection will directly support the church and charity’s work to help people in need.
Major Kelvin Lang says: “This has been a particularly hard year for many people. The Salvation Army has supported those who have lost their job and don’t know where to turn to next, those who have lost their home and ended up on the street, those who are older and desperately lonely, and those fragile families and individuals who are struggling to get by in real poverty and can’t afford the basics like food for the table.
This is why the role of The Salvation Army is more important than ever. With cuts to the public funding, your donation is vital to ensure we can help those in need.”
Funds raised will help the Salvation Army to mend broken lives across the country. This includes supporting men, women and families who are homeless; running care homes and day care centres for older people; reuniting long lost families through our Family Tracing Service; providing a place of safety for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, and offering emergency assistance to adults, families, children, young people and those who may otherwise be excluded and forgotten by society.
All collectors will be carrying a permit, and will only ask for cash donations in envelopes/sealed Salvation Army collection tins. Donations can also be made to The Big Collection by visiting www.salvationarmy.org.uk/bigcollection
