When I wrote to Cllr Toby Sturgis on this issue in June 2010, he was unable to furnish me with a detailed reply on the question of carbon reduction and the plans and strategy for Wiltshire Council.

I decided to give the council a serious period of time to bed in this policy and to measure its results against an established yardstick. That time has come and I will therefore request details on how Wiltshire Council has been performing on this issue, and am looking orward to their detailed response.

The issue of Lafarge and its redundant quarry and unused chimney and buildings also remains outstanding. What is Wiltshire’s current position on Lafarge prevaricating on the status of closure? It is widely accepted that anything salvageable has been taken and that a wet process cement plant is obsolete. So time for WC to show leadership and to once again acquire our rights of access back across the downs.

Finally I notice that officers of the council have been showing prospective developers sites on restricted western boundary land, when exists ample room and sites within existing town boundaries. Are they authorised to do this against council documentation. If not what action will be taken against the officers who are creating this anomaly?

Alternative designated sites must be shown to have been explored before any breeches of current boundaries is considered. That is clearly not so.
