On the morning of the Tour of Britain, I listened to an interview with Jane Scott on Wiltshire Radio. She was full of Wiltshire Council’s legacy of promoting cycling after the event – like a script from the BBC 2012 Olympics send-up.
But when the reporter pointed out that it was one thing having a rolling road block to protect a group of elite cyclists and asked what was being done for the for the ordinary cyclists, Ms Scott and her colleague side-stepped the question.
They made feeble comment about wearing fluorescent jackets and that the road blocks would only hold up traffic for 50 minutes – not what the reporter asked about. If Wiltshire Council seriously promotes safe cycling, let’s hope we don’t get subjected to Jane Scott in lycra.
