Reference the article on page 7, September 19, re the appeal for development on the tennis court, Clarendon Road.
I would appeal to my neighbours to stop calling the tennis court different names.
Historically the land was presented to the residents of Clarendon some 100 years ago who built a grass tennis court. This was discontinued some 50-60 years ago but the ground was still called the tennis court by all the residents.
Regarding the appeal by Ashley Homes and the objections by the residents, the inspector overseeing the appeal must be confused.
Ashley Homes want to build on the tennis courts.
Some objectors object to building on The Green. Others object to building on The Circle.
If the inspector has no local knowledge, or is not told, he must be scratching his head as to what some people are objecting about.
It’s the tennis court. Don’t try to change history. It has been called the tennis court since it was a gift to Clarendon residents and should be known as the tennis court for ever.
