As a normally happy bus user, I have to report the utter chaos that is the new T1 service. It is bewildering to say the least.

The bus arrives at the Town Hall with ‘Studley Green via Hilperton’ showing in illuminated letters.

So where is it going? Studley Green or Hilperton? Only the other day two people got on the bus and then had to get off at the next stop, realising they were not going where they wanted. I have seen numerous (mainly elderly) passengers get on the bus and have to get off again as they were told it was not the right bus for their destination.

The buses are late. Nearly every time I have arrived to catch the T1 it has been at least 10 minutes late. People are confused where the bus route is now, I myself asked the bus driver for a new timetable, but he did not have any. Would it not be more sensible to have a reasonable number of new timetables actually on the bus to inform passengers about the changes to the service?

It seems like common sense to me. We were told that timetables can be obtained at the Tourist Information Centre at the Civic Centre.

I can view them online, but most elderly people do not use this method to obtain information. Only today I witnessed the bus driver sitting with his head in his hands due to the somewhat chaotic ‘on and off’ and ‘where are you going?’ scenarios.

He explained that the Studley Green bus stops at one stop and the Hilperton bus at another… he had stopped at the Studley Green stop, but was going to Hilperton! He seemed confused. (He did, however, apologise for his mistake.) It is highly frustrating that we are encouraged to use public transport. More information should be available for passengers using this service.

The original 236 service was fine and problem-free as passengers knew where they were going… but not now it seems. I hope this issue is resolved or else all hell will break loose at the bus stops if it continues.
