At last the fact that there are more deaths and injuries on country roads than on motorways and trunk roads has been acknowledged by the authorities, which many of us of the rural community have been banging on about for decades.

In the little single track lane we live in, over the last 30 years the volume and speed of traffic has increased many hundreds of times over.

People treat the lane, with many concealed entrances, farm animals, horse/bike riders, walkers, pets, children, as they treat a main road, many travel at high speed with many bumps and close shaves.

Yet this is not any concern of government and so local councils follow.

It seems as if the prime concern is to keep traffic moving at any cost, which on a more regular basis means a death or serious injuries, so can we stop this?

It is not speed or using the term accident, it is down to sloppy unskilled driving, lack of attention, driving at the appropriate speed for the conditions, where drivers get into their little bubbles and have no idea or concern for those outside of it.

They need to be on a road and have someone drive past at even 30mph and see how dangerous it is.
