I wasn't shocked to see your report on the dog attack in the Drynham Lane area of Trowbridge. These attacks have been going on for years.

A few years ago a friend of mine was bitten on the face while trying to protect her young puppy from two German shepherds. The only reason her puppy wasn’t killed was that he was wearing a coat. On October 19 my daughter was walking her black labrador in the lane when he was attacked by two German shepherds. One had him by the throat while the other bit his legs. The dogs’ owner managed to get them off, but my daughter was traumatised by the whole thing. She also had vet bills to pay.

We have been warning people to stay away from Drynham Lane when walking their dogs. Most people we have spoken to already know about the problem. The police and dog wardens either don’t want to know or don’t have enough evidence. How much more do we need? As you said it could be a child next time. How would we explain to the parents that we all knew about the dangers and did nothing?

I would ask anybody who has experienced a problem with these dogs to call the dog warden now.
