As reported in this paper many times, Wiltshire was one of the hardest hit counties for flooding last year and since 2000 flooding has played a key part in many people’s lives, destroying homes and businesses and creating havoc, so I am pretty sure many are interested in what is being done to alleviate this problem.

After each flood event, people air their views of frustration but these are seldom heard or acted on.

Luckily Wiltshire Council has just produced a draft Local Flood Risk management strategy, which highlights the areas they believe to be at risk and the plans set up to deal with these issues.

In the report it clearly states Wiltshire Council is lacking decent flood information and having read the report I would agree, as there is not much detail in it.

In order for money to be spent effectively in the right places the council require better up-to-date information and now is the time for all of Wiltshire to get involved and contribute to reducing the flooding issues by filling out the online consultation document informing the council of the areas most at risk and suggesting possible solutions.

The consultation runs till the end of December and after this it will be harder to effect changes so please get involved now and encourage people to participate.

A draft Local Flood Risk Management Strategy can be found at: http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/ wilts-local-flood-risk-manage-strategy. pdf The online consultation form that is designed for comment on the issue will close by the end of December 2014 and can be found on: http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/wilts-local-flood-risk-manage-strategy.pdf Thanks for your assistance.
