We moved to Trowbridge about two years ago, and have been so delighted that we made the decision. The lovely countryside within easy reach, country pubs, and sport facilities all contribute to the easy living we were seeking.

People here are really nice, caring, very sociable and kind.

They are a joy, except when they get into a vehicle. What happens to these lovely folk, I ask myself?

Driving as close as possible behind the car in front seems to be the way they have been taught to drive. This very dangerous practice, particularly on narrow country lanes, is the norm. I drive at the speed limit most of the time, and even when there are no other cars anywhere near, my mirrors will be full of the usual impatient speedster. It is even worse at night being blinded by some idiot’s headlights.

Unfortunately, I have seen several multiple shunts since we moved here. We all know this is because of the local (and it is local) bad habit of driving too close. Do driving schools in the area teach this, or do testing authorities condone this fault?

I know I am not alone in this observation. Can anything be done?
