I note that the subject of charging for the multi-storey car park is being raised again. Councillor Thomson wants to see if the covenant can be varied to allow some element of payment.

The covenant clearly states that the council will not levy any charge whatsoever in respect of the parking of motor vehicles and it is not clear how this can be varied without breaking the covenant. As usual we have a politician trying to fool the public into accepting something quite unacceptable.

Could we not have a referendum on the matter – if it was done online there would only be a small cost.
