Our badly managed council wants more of our money, so it’s back to car parking charges. Oh yes, and this time it’s the multi-storey car park they’ve got their beady eyes on.
Don’t they realise they killed off Trowbridge town centre and left car parks empty? Obviously not, we’ve seen them in the Wiltshire Times scratching their heads saying “Why are the car parks empty?”
The main reason for wanting more money is total bad management. This council is 50 per cent too big, 75 per cent too expensive and vastly over-staffed. Council staff are paid between 10 and 15 per cent more than the average person. They wouldn’t exist in the real world where they would have to have a real business plan and not stumble from one disaster to another.
The top earners’ salary and pensions within the council are akin to a lottery win, but it is so easy to cover their mistakes by putting their hands in our pockets again and again.
