To the villagers of West Ashton, Edington, Keevil, Steeple Ashton, Bulkington and Semington: we wish to thank you all for supporting our Guides Christmas Float that came to your villages last week. Over the three nights we raised nearly £600 and also raised our profile that Girlguiding is alive and working well in Whorwellsdown District. We are sorry that we could not get round to all areas of the villages. Realistically Santa could only visit you between 6-8pm on each night so we left some areas without a visit. Please accept Santa's apology.

We would like to take this opportunity of thanking the Lions for the loan of their float and the support to our units over the last few years. Raising funds is not easy, especially when you are in a rural environment, the loan of the float brought much Christmas cheer to the villages, many of whom were delighted to see the float in their village.

We would like to thank John our driver and Santa for sparing their valuable time. Without them this event would not have happened. Also the local PCSO who ensured our safety whilst walking through Edington.

If you would like any further information about Girlguiding in your area, please either contact myself at jon.glover@lineone.net or go online www.girlguiding.org.uk for information about units in your area.

Christine Glover, Co District Commissioner, Assistant Guide Guider, Steeple Ashton Guides.
