Contrary to your recent news article (January 16, Firms hurt by roadworks), many Limpley Stoke residents have told us they are delighted with the new pavement in Lower Stoke which is enabling people to walk safely between the village and the bus stop and canal on the B3108.

It has also had the happy side-effect of reducing traffic speeds and, in future, we believe it will reduce rat-running through the village.

This pavement was included in the Freshford & Limpley Stoke Neighbourhood Plan which had extensive consultation with local residents. Its construction was the result of close collaboration between the Limpley Stoke Parish Council and the Bradford on Avon Community Area Board.

It was funded jointly between the Parish Council, Wiltshire Council and the Freshford and Limpley Stoke Community Association (FLiSCA) to whom we offer our thanks.

The pavement was completed yesterday, two weeks ahead of schedule, and it will provide a lasting legacy of safety for the residents of Limpley Stoke.

Simon Coombe, Chairman, Limpley Stoke Parish Council.
