With regard to Mr Richards’ comments (letters January 16) my proffered solution was in response to his perceived problem.
When I purchased my first cordless phone (I’m now on my third), I heeded the warning in the userguide that it was not designed for making telephone calls when the power fails, and retained my corded phone.
The original corded phone is still connected and been used during past power cuts.
