You are to be congratulated on your excellent lead article re Connect 2 and the council decision to withdraw funding. Thank you for speaking up and supporting the many disabled and elderly who have no means of transport to RUH except by the bus.

Whilst writing I attended the Friends of the Park meeting in the Civic Hall on Saturday. The presentation was excellent, one that an aspiring political candidate would be proud of. However the content left much to be concerned about. The massive overhaul of the park over 10 years would be of immense cost to ratepayers – no mention of the proposed amount was mentioned – no costings available for presentation. This country is billions in debt. The forecast is 10-20 years of repayment.

All council services are being cut yet we have this park plan, with no indication of cost to ratepayers. Also mentioned was piped music being played continuously in the bandstand, with no thought for people like myself who enjoy a walk in the park and a quiet sitdown to enjoy the surroundings.

As a resident born in Trowbridge and who has loved our park for over 50 years, I suggest this scheme should be carefully analysed before committing the ratepayers to an increased burden on their payments.
