In response to the letter from Mr Horsley (Wiltshire Times, February 20) about the lack of dog bins in an area of Trowbridge, I can confirm that Wiltshire Council allows dog waste to be deposited in ordinary litter bins.

The area referred to by Mr Horsley, including parts of Chepston Place, all of Shore Place and parts of Kingsley Place, is not in the town of Trowbridge but is part of the parish of Wingfield.

Wiltshire Council is currently undertaking a community governance review and the town council has asked it to consider changing the town boundary in a number of areas, including this area, to include the small number of properties on the Broadmead estate which are not currently part of the town.

If this change is implemented the town council will take into consideration the views of local council tax payers about additional facilities and services which should be provided.

In the meantime I will ensure that we assess the situation in the section between Chalfont Close and Christin Court, which is already in the town boundary.

Lance Allan, Town clerk, Trowbridge Town Council.
