I would like to show my appreciation of how the traffic in Frome Road, Bradford on Avon has been reacting to my difficulty crossing the road, despite the various obvious marked crossings.

I have now reached the time when I find it necessary to take my walking stick with me. I know we grumble about the drivers on the road these days, I myself have seen lots of drivers driving without due care and attention (sign of the times I’m afraid, always in a hurry).

I go for my evening walk the same time nearly every day to eventually reach the canal path leading from the wharf (this time is what us locals living in the Frome Road area call “going home time”). Everyone who lives in Bradford on Avon sees the terrible hold-ups through the town both ways, but honestly, when I am waiting to cross over either coming back or going, the drivers have been wonderful, stopping, smiling, waving out to say it’s OK to cross. I always give them a smile and a wave with my stick.

I do appreciate it, all you drivers. I am not very good at waiting too long at the side of the roads and you have all made it less of a problem. Thanks a lot.

PS It used to be the same when I walked my dogs. Thankfully, I’m not on the end of a lead yet.
