You may be able to glean an answer to changes being made to the roundabout at The Fieldways end of Hilperton Drive which since its opening has had three lanes, two that head to Trowbridge or Hilperton Village.
It would appear that the work being carried out now is to reduce the number of lanes to one at the roundabout and vehicles will have to filter. If this is the case, I foresee that traffic queues will increase particularly at the peak time of the morning.
Traffic here has been increasing due to the increasing number of houses being built towards West Ashton Road and drivers have to use the route via Hilperton Drive until the through road into West Ashton Road is open.
There are existing minor holdups at the zebra crossing and traffic turning right from Hilperton Road into Victoria Road, which causes traffic to back up and this will have an effect on all routes if only one lane is used.
I am not a traffic engineer nor an expert on road safety, but this reduction in lanes is perplexing.
Peter Mundy, Hilperton.
