I am writing in the hope you will give a mention to our local police and a young man called Luke over a small incident last Sunday (June 21) that shows some people do care.

I went into my local shop on Sunday afternoon in Bradford on Avon and the lady behind the counter asked me, as a dog owner, if I knew anyone who had a B&W terrier type dog. From the description I wondered if it was a dog my neighbour had been looking after for his sister. I gave her my phone number and said to give me a call if I could help more if it was the dog I thought.

Later I got a call from the local PCO officer who had picked up Luke and the lost dog in Trowbridge. It seems that Luke had been concerned about the dog and had followed him on a route from Bradford on Avon into Trowbridge where they were picked up by the police officer and brought back to the shop in Bradford on Avon. I called round and the dog was one being looked after by my neighbour. I agreed to look after the dog for a while and on seeing my neighbour return home he confirmed it was the dog he was looking after for his sister.

My neighbour had thought his rear garden was secure and left his rear door open if the dog needed to go out into the garden but he had somehow escaped.

After the dog showed up at the local shop, Luke was concerned for the dog and tracked him and looked after him, till I took the dog in to return to my neighbour. Hence I think he deserves a very big thank you together with the PCO who helped in the rescue. There are a lot of good people in this region who care and this showed two of them to me.
