With the news that the iconic diplodocus dinosaur skeleton from the Natural History Museum is going to make a national tour, the idea being raised in the local press that the Salisbury Magna Carta should be loaned out to go on display in County Hall will gain momentum.
The Lincoln Magna Carta has been frequently loaned out, and Lincoln has found that it has greatly raised the profile of their charter and of Magna Carta itself.
Lacock Abbey donated its beautiful 1225 Magna Carta to the National Archives and has a much more accessible facsimile in its place. This has been used successfully in its current Magna Carta exhibition.
Salisbury Cathedral obviously owes the rest of Wiltshire a huge debt for its support in June.
The obvious way it can repay that debt is by loaning the Charter to County Hall so it is much more accessible to the taxpayers who funded the cost of that procession in June. If a massive dinosaur skeleton can be transported around the country, how difficult can it be to move this?
