So Cllr David Jenkins is going to oppose/delay the proposed development plans for Glenmore Farm. How very inward thinking and very parochial, as in nimby.

On his basis Hawkeridge/Studland Parks would not have arisen in the 1960s, likewise Chichester/Leighton Parks in the 1970s, Bitham Park, Kings Ride/The Mead estates in the 1980s, all before Leigh Park was dreamed up in the 1990s.

Hawkeridge Park was developed when the then Warminster & Westbury Rural District Council was in being. This may have set the historical if not legal precedent for development in the north east quarter of Westbury. I wonder did Westbury Urban District & Wiltshire Councils object to this plan?

As a neighbouring council (Glenmore Farm is in Heywood parish domain), Westbury Town Council will be advised as a consultative body (and we all know what Wiltshire Council thinks of the consultation process) and pass on its views.

As a member of its highways, planning and development committee I shall keep an open mind on this subject until I’ve seen and read the plans, unlike Cllr Jenkins. Who knows, Heywood & Wiltshire Councils may refuse the application, the applicant then may go to a lengthy and costly planning appeal. As they say, Currently all options are open.

Cllr David Tout, Oldfield Road, Westbury.
