When it rains you often see puddles but why? The highways must surely know where they occur so why don’t they manage these puddles?

There are plenty of solutions such as better drainage, placing more drains to even the flow, designing flow off points and ensuring ditches and drains are regularly maintained. It amazes me that the same areas have the same problems for not just years but decades.

Bradford Road at the roundabout with Brook Road always has a puddle. The top of Trowle Common on a bad bend always has a huge puddle. They always appear when it rains but it appears no one notices these areas that need a little bit of extra thought in the highways planning process.

People complain about the potholes but do they moan about the huge lakes now occurring on our roads?

Surely if one drain overflows on a regular basis then you need to dig more to help disperse the volume of water flow. There is always a solution and you are paying for a service that you are often not getting value for money for.

Council taxes keep rising yet work being carried out to a level most of us would be happy to pay for is not. We do not have a say how our council taxes and rates are spent. The councils and Government might say you have a consultation, however that usually turns out to be a public relations exercise.

People do need more powers to get improvements done to a level that improves everyone’s lives. The time for good old fashioned hard work is required. Fix our roads and drains and stop cutting the services we need.
