One of your reporters has expressed a fear that the new road will cause speeding on Leap Gate. A more likely effect is speeding on the relief road itself now that its speed limit is being set at 50 mph. Speed limits are usually imposed in a downward direction on sections of road considered a hazard.

It seems quite impossible to get the council to explain why this limit has been imposed instead of the 40 mph limit initially planned.

This will be the only 50 mph limit in the area and the roads at each end of the new road are both 30 mph zones.

One of the faults with the limits in the Trowbridge area is the arbitrary change of limits for fairly short distances, and I am sure this is of no assistance to drivers.

For example, the section of County Way passing Tesco could well be a 30 mph limit, bearing in mind that it is quite short and contains two sets of traffic lights.
