IT WILL soon be the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain that fractured Hitler’s invasion plans. No air superiority, no invaders. The main penalty occurred on the British side, Dowding in control of our higher defence and Park, where most of the enemy planes ended in our air space.

The strategy of theses two men saved the day. Small numbers of fighters always there due to radar. As the fighting went on German pilots complained “the fighters are always there”. The horrors were too high, Goering and Hitler decided to go over to Malta, the invasion of our country was called off which in the course of time decided the outcome of the war.

What I have been unable to decide is, why were Dowding and Parks immediately dismissed and sent to Malta. Surely this should be investigated?
