I was delighted to read about the Battle of Britain anniversary flypast in the Wiltshire Times. In the article, it was mentioned that "Trowbridge has a strong link with the Spitfire: parts for the iconic planes were built in a factory on Bradley Road."

I am aware of this fact as I have several friends who have lived in Trowbridge all their lives. The retail park is called the Spitfire retail park but where is the plaque to commemorate this important piece of Trowbridge's history and how many people who visit the many shops there realise the significance of the name? As we have been commemorating many anniversaries of the 2nd World War, would it be appropriate to mark the site of the Spitfire factory?
