I AM SICK and tired of the anti-lorry media reports, and now it is getting boring, to be frank and honest, you need an education on road transport, the simple fact is that everything you own or buy at some point has been transported on a lorry.

If the general public public do not like lorries holding them up on their mundane daily commuter run, then do not buy anything, as when you do buy something you have added more lorry journeys.

I refer to the closing of the free truck parking at Spa Road in Melksham, due to residents moaning about noise and litter and a resident moaning about a female LGV driver getting undressed in the privacy of her sleeper cab.

It was reported that noisy fridge trailers were running, do the public not know that a fridge trailer can contain millions of pounds of pharmaceuticals or frozen food, by switching it off, the load is ruined and rejected at the delivery point.

Drivers can be fined and be jailed for driving too many hours or not getting enough daily or weekly rest, so they are limited on tachograph rules and law.

In some cases they can have their licences taking away by the Traffic Commisioner.

You have run a story about a proposed chicken factory in Sutton Veny, with Nimbies showing signs of 6,000 lorries will be coming there, on what facts do they have that such a large amount of LGV traffic will be coming?

On your story about the new Hilperton bypass, Peter Kenny of Persimmon Homes stated that locals have had to put up with heavy lorries before the new road was built, but please explain how the raw materials were delivered to build the new road and new houses got there, they were all delivered by a lorry.

Your feature writer Alison Phillips wrote that a visitor from Kendal said that Bradford on Avon would be great if there was no traffic and the visitor said he risked being flattened by a lorry and risking his life crossing the road, the fact is if you step in front of a moving a lorry, you will risk your life.

Having driven in Europe for 20 years, every village and town has a bypass and ring road for LGV traffic, it is only the UK that is anti-lorry, without trucks, the factories would shut, along with shops and hospitals.
