ON behalf of Bradford on Avon Rotary Club I would like to thank the people of Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon and surrounding villages for supporting our fireworks display on Thursday, November 5 at the Greenhill Fields event site, Southwick.

A great deal of hard work has to go into organising an event such as this and the reward is seeing so many people attending and appreciating the evening.

Despite it raining all day and only stopping as we lit the bonfire, more than 2,000 spectators attended.

We are very grateful to those in the town that help us sell tickets in advance and we were helped on the night by several local Rotary Clubs and the 41 Club of Trowbridge.

Any proceeds of the evening will go to further our work in helping local organisations such as Dorothy House, Young Carers and the Scouts as well as internationally supporting Polio Plus to eradicate polio worldwide and assisting where the need arises. My thanks to all who attended and to the Wiltshire Times for its coverage. We hope to see you all again in even greater numbers next year because without your support we would be unable to continue.

Henry Knee, President, Bradford on Avon Rotary Club
