ACCORDING to a report, December 31, motorists who had parked on yellow lines were ticketed at Lacock by traffic wardens when the hounds met at Lacock on Boxing Day, 2015.
I queried the legality of the double yellow lines with the Wiltshire Council as in my opinion the painted lines were not in accordance with the UK legislation under the Traffic Signs Regulation and General Directions 2001 (S12002 3113 TSRGD Diagram 1018.1). Wiltshire Council informed me in writing they are satisfied that the markings at Lacock are compliant with the current legislation.

Three widths are prescribed for yellow lines. The 75mm size should be used on roads with a speed limit of 40mph or less, and 100mm on roads with a higher limit.
In areas regarded as environmentally sensitive, the 50mm wide line may be used (Lacock). The gap between the double yellow lines must be in all cases the same as the width of each line (50mm line, 50mm gap, 50mm line = 6”).
