WHILE I congratulate David Cameron for getting some assurances for the future of the UK should it vote to stay in Europe on the June 23, the sight of Michael Gove and others in senior grandees of the Tory Party now nailing their colours to the mast of Brexit will I know be worrying many sane members of the public who voted Conservative at the last election.

These people, along with most of the rest of us, see that the UK is infinitely better off within the EU where it can trade and influence, than outside where economic stagnation, mass unemployment and exclusion from world affairs awaits, not to mention the break-up of Great Britain itself, as Scotland would most certainly leave if the Euro sceptics get their way.

No not for us the little England that Michael Gove, James Gray and others of their ilk in UKIP and on the Tory right seem so hell bent on achieving. We want a better, fairer, freer, greener and happier country that holds its head up and is prosperous.

Britain is stronger, safer and better off in Europe than outside it. Let’s keep it that way.
