THERE should be urgent work to expand the parking spaces at Avoncliff, not to shut out visitors altogether from its busy little car park.

I have taken many small groups there to see the superb concentration of the industrial revolution’s history of river, rail, canal, mill, workhouse, with its splendid aqueduct and lovely old pub.

The car park is always well used. Along with many other visitors who keep this true Wiltshire gem thriving, I shall sadly be bringing no more visitors, as there will effectively be nowhere left to park.

What a terrifyingly dumb decision.
