I WOULD like to express my sincere appreciation for the charity Link Transport who have recently helped me to undergo a six-week period of chemotherapy and radiotherapy at Royal United Hospital in Bath. Link is financed by donations together with an advisory fare per trip.
Although a free service, I had been poorly supported by Arriva in attending initial appointments at Bristol hospitals, so the excellent timekeeping and friendliness of the Link drivers helped me to relax during a stressful time with their refreshing conversations.
My partner supported me on the lengthier eight-hour days in chemotherapy but he could take time out whilst Link enabled me to attend the radiotherapy return trips with its hospital parking issues and brief 20-minute appointment slots.
Once in treatment the solidarity amongst fellow patients is strong. There have been great improvements over time in minimising the once feared side effects and various medications are now prescribed, with full support given by specialist nurses. If you recall life’s earlier achievements you will find courage to complete the prescribed course of therapy.
