WE’VE been following the news about the massive decline in bees and the potential links to the use of certain pesticides. The ban on these pesticides is now at risk of being removed and we are concerned that a further drop in bee numbers could hurt growers of fresh produce in this country.
As a local business owner that sells freshly cooked food it’s really important to us that we’re able to buy local, seasonal produce at good prices.
Local organic growers are thriving which shows that large-scale pesticide use is not necessary and there is a growing market for food grown this way.
We hope our local MPs are on our side in this matter as two applications have been made to lift the bans and we need to be clear on how detrimental this could be to the bees.
