WITH another 150 new homes approved last week at Semington and the very real possibility that the Gladmans development at Shurnhold will now go ahead following the decision of Wiltshire Council not to rely on the five-year land supply when the application is heard at appeal, the realities of the failed planning policies of this Conservative administration are becoming more and more apparent.

These are catastrophic failures that could blight our communities and our landscapes for years to come.

The time has come to say enough is enough – the elected politician responsible for this disastrous approach to planning should be removed from office and an apology to should be offered to the communities across west and north Wiltshire who are now seeing a surge in speculative planning applications and appeals – many of which are getting permission as the council cannot stop them as a result of this failure.

Cllr Jon Hubbard, Wiltshire Councillor for Melksham South
