Baroness Jane Scott and councillors have said very nice things about Jeff Osborn. However, actions speak louder than words. May I suggest a more fitting, lasting tribute to this caring and much respected gentleman would be for Wiltshire Council to reverse its earlier decision (it’s still not too late) and continue its stewardship of the Hopper, for which he fought so hard.

Funding, the rest of the problem, could be provided by a Hopper Club membership subscription - similar to the current garden waste collection scheme - supplemented by realistic and reasonable fare. Additional support could be forthcoming from a Friends of the Hopper fund, as suggested by Jeff Osborn.

Come on Wiltshire Council, show a bit of compassion. Where there’s a will there’s a way. Bring a bit of brightness into the darkness of this age of austerity.
