MAY I add my support to Cllr Hubbard and his comments relating to the Wiltshire Council cabinet member responsible for Strategic Planning in the county.
I am amazed that ‘Teflon Toby’ (as backbench councillors now know him) has not resigned. I am even more amazed that Baroness Scott has not sacked him.
Due to the unmitigated disaster that has befallen west and north Wiltshire, it is not only the towns which are being besieged by speculative planning applications.
Within, and adjacent to, my division there are outline applications for nearly 500 houses – none of them on sites which were allocated in the 2026 Core Strategy.
The 2016 five-year housing supply figures might remedy the situation but, apparently, the figures could take another six months to be calculated as WC needs to agree them with developers.
Talk about the tail wagging the dog!
Cllr Sturgis survived a vote of no confidence recently but he really needs to get his act together urgently – or stand aside for someone who can.
Ernie Clark, Wiltshire Councillor for Hilperton Division, Independent Group leader, Wiltshire Council
