Open letter to Andrew Murrison MP AS A British citizen I am seriously concerned with the result of the EU referendum and how the voting process was influenced and manipulated by the lies and deceit that has now become apparent. The nature of the whole campaign became a process driven by hatred and disunity, leading to xenophobia, with fatal results for some.

This was the very situation that inspired Winston Churchill to unite Europe after the horrific deaths of millions in bloody wars. The ramifications of the referendum result are now becoming a reality as society (Great Britain) starts to fall apart and become divided, not to mention the credibility of Britain as a country to trade with.

The statistics show that the majority of the exit votes came from the age group that won’t have to live with the long-term consequences of the current situation.

This is certainly not democratic and thankfully our predecessors didn’t operate this way as we have enjoyed peace in Europe over the past 70 years.

There have been mock elections undertaken in schools that show clearly that the age group of 14 to 17-year-olds voting would have painted a very different picture or future. In your constituency there was a turnout of 78.8 per cent and a 47.5 per cent vote to remain in the UK.

In view of the above and on the behalf of those voters I am petitioning you as a representative of the people and under your obligations and responsibilities to represent your constituents’ interests and concerns in Parliament to ask the House of Commons not to invoke Article 50 until one or more of the following courses of action has been taken: 1) An enquiry into the misleading of the electorate.

2) A second referendum is held.

3) The question of whether to leave the EU is put to MPs to vote on. The result of the referendum is not legally binding.
