BOTH my parents are buried at Pinelawns Cemetery in Warminster and I visit regularly every fortnight. Recently I went and the grass was fairly long and needed cutting. I went again to visit on the weekend of June 18/19, and found to my utter disgust that it still had not been cut and resembled a field.
It is an utter disgrace and I for one am ashamed to be a resident of Warminster. I am not alone in this – several people who were visiting on Saturday said the same – all thought it looked dreadful and abandoned.
I suppose to Wiltshire Council it is nothing but a piece of land with headstones on and bones under the ground! However to relations who have their parents, sisters, brothers and children buried there, it is a very special place and should be treated with respect and dignity, something that Wiltshire Council is obviously incapable of doing.
I once again reiterate how disgusting it is, I do not expect to have to wade through two feet of grass to get to may parents’ grave.
I am looking for reassurance that this will be rectified and the cemetery returned to how it should be and has always been. A place of peace and dignity where people can reflect in pleasant surroundings.
