TWO of the great topics of the day are global warming, and Brexit. If sea levels had not already risen a few thousand years ago, we would still be part of mainland Europe, and we might not be having these debates.
Gravel beds from thousands of years past are beginning to give up their secrets to archaeologists, but not every artefact is under a museum glass case. I was intrigued recently to look down in my front garden and spot a much-eroded, apparently man-made item, among the Cerney gravel.
Presumably this is a jewellery item from long before the land bridge to Europe flooded? I would be interested in any comments readers might be able to make on my “find”. One can imagine fossils appearing from time to time, but would artefacts be unusual?
